- Versitile- You can make this vegetarian, add chicken or shrimp
- Homemade - this is better than store bought and is one of my favorite creamy sauces.
Ingredients
- Pasta - use any of your favorite pasta you like for this that would go well with white sauce. Gluten free pastas can pair well too.
- Butter - a classic ingredient to make this dish extra tasty.
- Heavy cream - this adds to the creaminess of the dish. You may use half and half but it may be a thinner consistency. This is also known as heavy whipping cream.
- Parmesan cheese - this adds a nutty taste to this savory dish. Shredded parmesan or grated parmesan both work.
- Mozzarella cheese - another cheese that adds flavor
- Garlic paste - garlic paste packs a stronger flavor for less amount. If you want to substitute for fresh garlic. One teaspoon of garlic paste is equivalent to about 1 large clove of garlic.
- Nutmeg - adds an earthy and nutty flavor
How To Make It
- Cook pasta per box instructions and set aside.
- In a skillet whisk the butter and cream together. About 3 minutes on medium-low heat.
- Stir in the cheeses.
- Season with garlic paste, nutmeg, salt and pepper and simmer for a few minutes. Stir in noodles.
Step by Step Instructions
Start by cooking the pasta according to the box directions, then set aside to drain. Next, in a skillet, whisk the butter and cream together. About 3 minutes on medium-low heat.
Then, stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese. Cook in medium heat to low heat. It will look gloppy but keep stirring making sure not to over-heat to prevent curdling.
Next you'll want to add garlic paste, nutmeg, salt and pepper and simmer for a few minutes.
Finally, stir in pasta, garnish with parmesan and herbs and serve warm.
